This morning I awoke to people being locked out of office buildings and some priority items that had to be taken care of right away - so it was 8:30 before I even had a chance to think about showering, dressing, and driving to work. So of course, I decided 'fuck it' and worked from home. By which I mean I took care of the high priority stuff, changed the outgoing message on my voicemail, and then dropped my sister off to have lunch with a friend and went to Target to buy hair dye (and snowflake socks!)
Now I'm all cozy and warm at home and contemplating cracking open the Thanksgiving wine a bit early. Although, I may need to save it all for tomorrow. There will most likely be drama tomorrow - or at the least, a very tense atmosphere - and I really don't want to deal with it. I was getting used to quiet, non-eventful holiday dinners. *sigh*
I'm also not participating in pre-Thanksgiving bar shenanigans tonight. I am officially old, because I'm mainly skipping out because all the bars are going to be packed and loud and there will be a line to get in, and it's cold and rainy, and the parking will suck and I'm exhausted just thinking about it.. And oh my god, I cannot believe I just wrote that. I need to get my party groove back.
Anyway, since I probably won't be at the computer until much later tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving all! And safe travels.

I've been kinda lame about updating recently. This is partly because even I'm sick of listening to me bitch about work, partly because I've been a bit anti-social lately, and partly because when I wasn't hating the world and everyone in it, I was rather busy. So let's talk about the busy, happy things that I've been doing.
On Thursday, I learned that a new(ish) restaurant in Bel Air serves Flirtinis, a martini that I'd previously only ever found in Chestertown. It tasted like liquid nostalgia and was a very exciting discovery. Then on Friday I was technically 'working from home' but the company server that hosts our email, portal, and work order database was down until 4:30, so I spent most of the day preparing for my jewelry party. The party went very well - I made lots of yummy food, had pomegranate martinis, and I get over $300 in free jewelry since I hosted the party. Because I totally need more shiny things. Saturday was exceptionally busy - there was some family drama, shopping for my mother's birthday presents, and then dinner at Olive Garden and a viewing of New Moon. The entire place was insane - the parking lot was gridlocked, all the showings were sold out until 11:45 - even though we bought our tickets in advance we had to wait until 10:15. I'm not really a big Twilight fan, but the movie was an enjoyable time (The always shirtless Taylor Lautner helped a lot) and a lot more humorous than expected. Also, I'm a little ashamed I have an opinion on this, but I am totally Team Jacob.
And then I watched football. Today was the big rivalry Ravens-Colts game.Which we would have won, if we hadn't missed the damn field goal. But for the most part it was a well-played game. Now I'm trying to catch up on last week's TV and feeling thankful I have a three day work week coming up.![]()

I specifically asked to contract swine flu or H1N1, if you prefer technicality. What I did not want, and I thought I was pretty clear on this point, was some sort of non-specific, low-level cold with symptoms that are just enough to make me feel gross and icky and fatigued, but don't actually incapacitate me. And I especially didn't want to come down with them on Friday afternoon so that I'll be mostly well again by Monday. That is missing the point entirely! Now I'm missing all the weekend shenanigans, but won't miss any work. Thanks for nothing.
No love,
Eva
